New species found
We constantly hear the world is losing hundreds or even thousands of species every day to extinction. It's a thought sad and sobering to realize that (human) are responsible for the destruction of so many species and taking them to extinction.
However, in the middle all that, there are also some good news. Against all odds, scientists are discovering many new species. They have not found one, but never NEW two species discovered before hiding inside a tropical forest in New Guinea. A tiny mini called pygmies pygmy possum and a huge rat Cercartetus size giant cat named Mallomys were found by scientists in the Foja Mountains in western New Guinea.
In the Saba Bank, Netherlands Antilles, two new species of soft corals were discovered.
Conservation International announced the discovery of 24 new species in Suriname, including wild-looking Antelopus frog.
The Jimbaran shovelnose ray (fish) has been discovered in Indonesia.
A new species of copepod was recently discovered deep water.
A four pounds of rock lobster, which is a new species, was also recently discovered, along with a new species of giant tube worms that live 8000 meters depth in the ocean.
A new species of mouse was discovered in Cypress, called the Cypriot mouse.
In a jungle of Indonesia scientists discovered dozens of new species of frogs.
The Kiwa hirsuta is a new species of crustacean that was recently discovered in hydrothermal vents of the EPR Antarctic. It looks like a tiny white hairy lobster.
The honeyheater smoking is a new species of birds found in Provence Papua in Indonesia.
The scientists found six new species in remote forest AFICA, including a bat, a rodent, two shrews and two frogs.
A new species of leopard with largest fangs of the cat family was recently discovered deep in the rainforests of Borneo.
In the Monterey Submarine Canyon at 2100 meters Scientists have discovered a new species of jellyfish called granrojo (Spanish for "Big Red"). It is a large red spot between 2-3 meters floating through the dark underworld of the ocean devouring its prey!
So while unfortunately losing many species are unique and distinctive animals each day on the planet, is good news to learn new species are still left for us to discover (and hopefully not destroy!).
