Roanoke Island in North Carolina holds the secret of the baffling disappearance of a group of English settlers in the sixteenth century. The early colony simply disappeared without trace, and their fate has intrigued and baffled historians ever since.
The story begins in 1587, with the second attempt to establish a colony British on the island of Roanoke. Two years earlier, English explorer Sir Walter Raleigh made an unsuccessful attempt to establish a settlement on the island, which sponsors a colony of all men who initially integrated well with the Native Americans already living there. But the harmony did not last, as the abruptness of the commander of the colony, Sir Ralph Lane soon enraged the local tribe. To compound the problems of the colony, supply ships failed to show up leaving hungry and disillusioned, so when fell in Raleigh, settlers in 1586 after a trip to the West Indies chose to join him on the trip back to Britain. But as the New World offered as potential benefits, the English tried again in August 1587 and is the settlement that was established by 115 men, women and children who are the subject of the mystery of the colony Roanoke.
Shortly after the founding of the colony of their governor – artist John White – returned to England with the intention of returning with supplies they need. However, due to the war with Spain, was prevented from sailing for three years. When he finally arrived back in Roanoke in August 1590 found with a colony completely deserted, with just a hint of where the inhabitants are gone, the word "Croatoan" – the name of the tribe of friends who lived in the south of the island – was carved into a tree. However, despite White spend the rest of his life searching, no trace of the settlers found.
The theories of the Historians are included may have been murdered by the local Croatoan tribe, or who, tired of waiting for supplies and sense of abandonment, which moved inland and intermarried with other Native American tribes. Another assumption is that they were killed by Spanish troops on a ranch in northern Florida. Their fate can not be known and any evidence that may have supplied the tracks is now a thing of the past. The website of its settlement soon overrun by vegetation and lost to the point where the Historians still debate the original location.
Some argue that the solution is doomed under water about half a mile out to sea, as the coast has changed markedly since the sixteenth century. With the unknown location of the settlement, it is impossible to dig for clues. Many people have traveled to the region with the hope of finding some trace of the colony, and if you want to join their ranks, be sure to locate a hotel of in Roanoke, just north of the island, which was supposedly the solution. Who knows? You can be the one finally discovers the secret of the colony of evil Roanoke fatal.
